History

Le Barteleur Story

Le Barteleur is the brainchild of two experts in luxury brands. Nicolas Varnier brings over 15 years of expertise with prestigious brands such as Dom Pérignon, Remy Martin, Louis XIII, Louis Roederer, and Domaines Ott. His years spent in Japan have taught him the importance of time, service and consumption rituals. His taste for action and his passion for the world of high-quality wines & spirits led him to develop Le Barteleur Premium Ready-to-Drink Cocktails.

The second creator in the pair, Philippe di Méo, has a diverse background in crafting luxury. Whether he is a chef (creation of an organic restaurant R'Aliment in 2002) or a nose (creation of a perfume brand Liquides Imaginaires in 2013), Philippe strives to makes the moment sacred by the sensuality he instills, by the meaning he distills. Attached to luxury by his passion for beautiful materials and his attraction for demanding challenges, Philippe is particularly fond of the field of champagnes and spirits.

Espresso Martini

LONDON 1983

Inspired by the Vodka Martini from which it is derived, the Espresso Martini was shaken for the first time in London’s Soho Brasserie. Its creator Dick Bradsell is said to have been inspired by the coffee machine located next to the station where he served drinks and perhaps even by a supermodel wanting a cocktail that would wake her up. A win-win outcome!

PARIS 2023

LE BARTELEUR pays tribute to this signature cocktail of 1980s London that has become a modern classic. Expanding on variations of the martini, it gives the full-bodied hit of delicate chocolate to the black coffee, thereby keeping in line with its iconic bittersweet taste. Make that a single or a double?

NOSE: Intensity of roasted black coffee with spiced notes, combined with the bittersweet flavor of the cocoa bean.

PALATE: Delicious combination of the coffee and dark chocolate. Full-bodied flavor of lightly roasted and spiced coffee blends perfectly with the intense smoothness of the slightly bitter dark chocolate.

Hanky Panky

LONDON 1925

Invented on a London night. During the Roaring Twenties, Ada Coleman, head bartender at the Savoy Hotel, created an iconic cocktail which became an absolute reference for her peers.

The cocktail was created for the actor Charles Hawtrey, who loved it. The Hanky Panky was born and made to enchant.

In her Acapulco home, the most tropical of cocktails was born for eternity.

PARIS 2023

Since then, this brazen creation has earned its place among the greats.
